Within the same week, the top-three ranked consensus prospects in the class of 2026 declared their college commitments. No. 1 Bo Bassett’s (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes was sandwiched between No. 3 prospect Dreshaun Ross (Fort Dodge, Iowa) and No. 2 prospect Jax Forrest (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) declaring their intentions to enroll at Oklahoma State under David Taylor’s new regime.

Ross, ranked No. 2 nationally at 215 pounds in the latest WIN Magazine/Spartan Combat rankings, is already a two-time state champion and former U17 World Team member. He chose the Cowboys over Iowa, Iowa State, and Penn State, as well as a slew of major college football offers.

“I’m excited to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Oklahoma State University,” Ross posted on his Instagram. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my family, friends, coaches and community that have helped and supported me throughout this journey, Go Pokes.”

Forrest, currently ranked No. 1 at 132 pounds, won a PIAA AA state title last March for the Crushers and has made his mark on the national scene, winning two national titles in Fargo, two Super 32 Challenge belts as well as the prestigious Ironman title this past December.

“Through all the ups and the downs, and with my parents, I can proudly say that I’m going to be going to Oklahoma State with Coach Taylor, Coach Gilman, Jimmy (Kennedy), (Tyler) Caldwell… all those guys. I am super thankful for everything they’ve done for me and for my coaches, my family, and my teammates. I am glad, and I won’t have any regrets about going to Oklahoma State.”

The Cowboys are enjoying an undefeated dual-meet season thus far under first-year head coach David Taylor and are currently tied with Nebraska in the No. 3 slot in WIN’s latest Tournament Power Index (TPI) as of February 3.
