WIN’s Annual Awards Issue is now available

Nick Feldman of Malvern Prep in Pennsylvania dominated the high school heavyweight division this past winter. The future Ohio State Buckeye went 38-0 with 20 pins and captured both an Ironman and National Preps championship for the second time in his high school career.

Feldman was named the winner of the 2022 WIN Magazine Junior Dan Hodge Trophy as the most dominant high school wrestler in the country. Presented by Resilite, the award is the Heisman Trophy of wrestling on the high school level and the announcement highlights WIN Magazine’s annual awards issue that was printed on May 5.

In this issue, you will find a feature on Feldman as well as WIN’s other award winners from this season:

  • Dan Gable Coach of the Year — Sean Bormet of Michigan – helped Wolverines celebrated 100thyear of wrestling by leading team to first Big Ten title since 1973 and scored the most points in a second-place finish at the NCAAs.
  • Mike Chapman Impact Award — Mike Moyer of the National Wrestling Coaches Association – the executive director of the NWCA will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for the work he’s done since taking role in 1999.
  • Schalles Award (top college pinner) — Wyatt Hendrickson of Air Force – sophomore heavyweight led NCAA in falls (18) in a year that saw him win both the Southern Scuffle and Big 12 Championship.
  • Junior Schalles Award (top high school pinner) — Ryder Rogotzke of Stillwater, Minn. — The junior and state champion pinned 44 of the 46 wrestlers who actually wanted to wrestle him this winter.
  • WIN’s Journalist of the Year — Jason Bryant, MatTalk Online & Public Address – second honor for Bryant, who entertains fans with his knowledge of wrestling at the biggest wrestling events in the world.
