125 Pounds

3rd Place — #1 Thomas Gilman (Iowa) dec. #8 Nick Piccininni (Oklahoma State), 13-6 — The Hawkeye scored three of his six takedowns in the third period and added a 2:47 riding time advantage in a rematch of the quarterfinal bout.

5th Place — #2 Joey Dance (Virginia Tech) won by medical forfeit over #10 Jack Mueller (Virginia) — The Hokie ended his career with two All-American honors, the first since 2014, when Dance finished fourth.

7th Place — #7 Sean Russell (Edinboro) dec. #16 Nathan Kraisser (Campbell), 10-3 — The Scot sophomore scored two of his four takedowns in the third period, the final one coming with one second left. Russell also added a 1:56 riding time advantage.

133 Pounds

3rd Place — #1 Nathan Tomasello (Ohio State) dec. #5 Stevan Micic (Michigan), 5-2 — The Badger claimed his second straight third-place finish by scoring the deciding takedown with 12 before adding a riding time point.

5th Place — #3 Kaid Brock (Oklahoma State) dec. #7 Eric Montoya (Nebraska), 5-3 — The Cowboy clinched this placement by a scoring a second takedown with 1:42 in the third period.

7th Place — #8 Zane Richards (Illinois) major dec. #9 Scotty Parker (Lehigh), 14-4 — The Illini scored five takedowns and added a 2:28 riding time advantage.

141 Pounds

3rd Place — #2 Kevin Jack (NC State) pinned #10 Bryce Meredith (Wyoming), 6:20 — Two takedowns gave Meredith a 4-2 midway through the second period when his former teammate caught the Cowboy in a scramble for the fall. Jack, who also placed two years ago, avenged his quarterfinal loss to Meredith, the defending national runner-up.

5th Place — #8 Jaydin Eierman (Missouri) dec. #5 Anthony Ashnault (Rutgers), 4-2 — The Tiger scored his only takedown with 12 seconds left in the first period, then later rode the Scarlett Knight for over two minutes.

7th Place — Matt Kolodzik (Princeton) dec. Thomas Thorn (Minnesota), 3-1 — The Tiger freshman ended his first season on a high note when he scored the deciding takedown in the third period.

149 Pounds

3rd Place — #5 Brandon Sorensen (Iowa) dec. #4 Micah Jordan (Ohio State), 4-0 — The Hawkeye, who also shutout his Big Ten rival by a 3-0 margin in the quarterfinals, wait until the third period when he scored all his points: an escape, a takedown and a 1:54 riding time advantage.

5th Place — #7 Max Thomsen (Northern Iowa) dec. #6 Solomon Chishko (Virginia Tech), 10-4 — The Panther freshman scored four takedowns, two in the first period, before adding a 1:33 riding time margin.

7th Place — #15 Kenny Theobold (Rutgers) pinned US Alex Kocer (South Dakota State), 1:37 — The Scarlett Knight senior caught the Jackrabbit in a nearside cradle for the fall.

157 Pounds

3rd Place — #2 Michael Kemerer (Iowa) dec. #5 Joseph Smith (Oklahoma State) 7-1 sv — The only takedown of the match came with 10 seconds in overtime when the Hawkeye’s move also put the Cowboy on his back for a four-point nearfall.

5th Place — #4 Tyler Berger (Nebraska) dec. #7 Dylan Palacio (Cornell), 6-3 — The Husker scored both of his takedowns in the first period, which allowed him to build a riding time advantage. Palacio cut the margin to 4-2 with a reversal with 12 seconds left in the second period.

7th Place — US Paul Fox (Stanford) pinned Sal Mastriani (Virginia Tech), 5:00 — The Cardinal ended his tournament in style with six takedowns, which gave him a 12-4 lead before he scored the fall.

165 Pounds

3^rd Place — #2 Logan Massa (Michigan) major dec. #4 Isaac Jordan (Wisconsin), 11-2 — The Wolverine freshman’s first takedown in the first period also led to a two-point nearfall and eventually built a 2:14 riding time advantage over his Big Ten rival.

5th Place — #9 Chandler Rogers (Oklahoma State) dec. #6 Daniel Lewis (Missouri), 9-6 — The Cowboy broke a 6-6 deadlock by scoring a fourth takedown with 31 seconds left and also enjoyed a 3:30 riding time advantage.

7th Place — #5 Chad Walsh (Rider) dec. #13 Brandon Womack (Cornell), 8-5 — This would be the last time coach Gary Taylor would be in the corner after a 39-year career and his junior made sure it would be a successful one when Walsh rallied from a 4-0 deficit with three takedowns; the second one coming with nine seconds left in the second period.

174 Pounds

3rd Place — #1 Zahid Valencia (Arizona State) major dec. #9 Myles Amine (Michigan), 15-5 — In a battle between two freshmen and a rematch of the quarterfinals, the Sun Devil scored five first-period takedowns to lead 10-4 before adding a two-minute riding time advantage.

5th Place — #2 Brian Realbuto (Cornell) pinned #10 Zac Brunson (Illinois), 1:15 — Realbuto, who went 0-2 in the 2016 NCAAs after suffering a knee injury, ended his career on bright note with the fall.

7th Place — #7 Kyle Crutchmer (Oklahoma State) dec. US Jake Residori (SIUE), 9-4 — The Cowboy, who suffered a first-round loss to Residori, ended his career on a bright note with five consolation wins; this one that started with Crutchmer taking the Cougar to his back for a 6-0 lead.

184 Pounds

3rd Place — #7 TJ Dudley (Nebraska) pinned #3 Sammy Brooks (Iowa), 2:38 — The Husker and South Carolina native ended a scoreless match when he took the Hawkeye to his back for the eventual fall.

5th Place — #6 Myles Martin (Ohio State) dec. #4 Nolan Boyd (Oklahoma State), 10-6 — Martin, the NCAA champ at 174 pounds, took the Cowboy to his back for a 6-0 lead with 1:51 left in the first period and eventually led 10-2 before Boyd scored a takedown and two-point nearfall in the final 12 seconds of the bout.

7th Place — #12 Drew Foster (Northern Iowa) dec. #9 Nathan Jackson (Indiana), 11-7 — The Panther freshman led 4-1 in the first period, but did not clinch the bout until one second in the bout when he scored a third takedown. The Hoosier battled back and actually led 5-4 before Foster took a 6-5 lead on a second-period reversal.

197 Pounds

3rd Place — #3 Kollin Moore (Ohio State) pinned #4 Jared Haught (Virginia Tech), 2:27 — The Buckeye freshman earned the fall when he took the Hokie to his back to break a scoreless first period.

5th Place — #7 Aaron Studebaker (Nebraska) major dec. #6 Preston Weigel (Oklahoma State) 9-0 — The Husker took a 4-0 first-period lead off a takedown and two-point nearfall before he added a third-period reversal and a 1:18 riding time advantage.

7th Place — #8 Ryan Wolfe (Rider) dec. #10 Kevin Beazley (Old Dominion), 2-1 — The Bronco clinched the victory on an escape with 1:45 left in the match.

Heavyweight

3rd Place — #7 Tanner Hall (Arizona State) dec. #3 Ty Walz (Virginia Tech), 5-4 tb — The Sun Devil score a point two seconds into the tiebreaker phase before riding out the Hokie for 30 seconds. A challenge against Hall for locking hands was denied.

5th Place — #5 Nick Nevills (Penn State) dec. #4 Jacob Kasper (Duke), 4-3 sv — When Kasper was forced to ask for injury time in the sudden victory period, the Nittany Lion elected to go down and escaped with the final point with 21 seconds left.

7th Place — Michael Kroells (Minnesota) won by TF over Denzel Dejournette (Appalachian State), 17-2 — The Gopher scored four takedowns and twice put the Mountaineer on his back before adding a 3:42 riding time advantage.
