New WIN Rankings released; Ten Top-15 teams and 100 nationally-ranked wrestlers at Vegas Invite

Updated: December 2, 2024

NEWTON, Iowa — The Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational has historically pitted the nation’s best college wrestlers against each other early in the season as this weekend’s 42nd annual tournament features over 100 nationally-ranked wrestlers and 10 teams that are rated among the Top-15 schools in WIN Magazine’s Dec. 2 NCAA Div. I rankings, presented by Cliff Keen Athletic.

Led by Oklahoma State, rated No. 3 in WIN’s Tournament Power Index, the other notable teams in WIN’s latest TPI that will wrestle this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, in the Las Vegas Convention Center, include No. 4 Nebraska, 5 Ohio State, 6 NC State, 7 Virginia Tech, 9 Cornell, 10 Iowa State, 11 Michigan, 12 Northern Iowa and 15 South Dakota State.

Depending exactly on which wrestlers enter, this could mean as many as 27 wrestlers ranked in the top five of their weight class:

  • 125 – No. 1 Richard Figueroa (Arizona State); No. 2 Matt Ramos (Purdue); No. 3 Caleb Smith (Nebraska); No. 5 Troy Spratley (Oklahoma State);
  • 133 – No. 3 Dylan Ragusin (Michigan);
  • 141 – No. 1 Jesse Mendez (Ohio State); No. 4 Brock Hardy (Nebraska); No. 5 Cael Happel (Northern Iowa);
  • 149 – No. 1 Caleb Henson (Virginia Tech); No. 3 Ty Watters (West Virginia); No.5 Ridge Lovett (Nebraska);
  • 157 – No. 2 Meyer Shapiro (Cornell); No. 4 Peyten Kellar (Ohio); No. 5 Antrell Taylor (Nebraska);
  • 165 – No. 3 Peyton Hall (West Virginia); No. 4 Terrell Barraclough (Utah Valley); No. 5 Hunter Garvin (Stanford);
  • 174 – No. 4 Dean Hamiti (Oklahoma State); No. 4 Cade Devos (South Dakota State); No. 5 Lennox Wolak (Virginia Tech);
  • 184 – No. 2 Parker Keckeisen (Northern Iowa); No. 3 Dustin Plott (Oklahoma State); No. 4 Bennett Berge (South Dakota State);
  • 197 – No. 2 Jacob Cardenas (Michigan); No. 4 A.J. Ferrari (CSU Bakersfield);
  • Hwt – No. 3 Wyatt Hendrickson (Oklahoma State); No. 4 Yonger Bastida (Iowa State).

WIN’s TPI projects where programs would finish in the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships, which will be held March 20-22 in Philadelphia, if every wrestler finished the season where they are ranked now. The following is a breakdown of those individual TPI points per ranking: 20 for 1st, 16 for 2nd, 13.5 for 3rd, 12.5 for 4th, 10 for 5th, 9 for 6th, 6.5 for 7th and 5.5 for 8th. Wrestlers ranked 9-12 earn two points each, followed by one and a half points for wrestlers ranked 13-16 and one point for those ranked 17-20.

This week’s national ranking includes WIN’s first dual-team rankings, led by No. 1 Penn State (that travels to Lehigh on Sunday) and No. 2 Iowa (that hosts Princeton and Army in St. Charles, Mo.). Meanwhile, No. 8 Minnesota and No. 13 Missouri will compete in the SIUE Cougar Classic on Saturday.
