Women’s ‘Final X’ Field Set

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Eight women — Victoria Anthony, Haley Augello, Mallory Velte, Jenna Burkert, Forrest Molinari, Randyll Beltz, Rachel Watters and Korinahe Bullock — all finished second at the 2018 U.S. Open a month ago. But they all got a second chance to make this year’s U.S. World women’s freestyle team when they all won their weight classes at the World Team Trials Challenge tournament, Saturday, May 19, at the RCTC Sports Complex.

They as well as two U.S. Open winners — Jacarra Winchester and Alex Hedrick — will now advance to one of three “Final X” events — against former World medal winners or U.S. Open champs — on three consecutive weeks this June in Lincoln, Neb., State College, Pa., or Bethlehem, Pa.

The following are the Best-of-3 Championship Series at this year’s WTT Challenge tournament in women’s freestyle:

50 kg/110 pounds: Victoria Anthony (Sunkist Kids) def. Erin Golston (New York AC), 2 matches to 1

Match 1 – Anthony dec. Golston, 6-0

Match 2 — Golston dec. Anthony, 5-5 criteria

Match 3 — Anthony pinned Golston, 5:05

Anthony will face Whitney Conder, at Best-of-3 Final X Event, June 23, at Bethlehem, Pa.

53 kg/116.5 pounds: Haley Augello (New York AC) dec. Cody Pfau (Titan Mercury), 2 matches to none

Match 1 — Augello won by TF over Pfau, 10-0 (1:10)

Match 2 — Augello won by TF over Pfau, 11-0 (1:23)

Augello will face Sarah Hildebrandt at Best-of-3 Final X Event, June 23, at Bethlehem, Pa.

55 kg/121 pounds: Jacarra Winchester (Sunkist Kids) defeated Dominique Parrish (Sunkist Kids), 2 matches to none

Match 2 — Winchester won by TF over Parrish, 10-0 (2:34)
