NCAA DIVISION II WRESTLING RANKINGS

Wednesday, Feb. 22 (For Immediate Release)

        EDMOND, Okla. -- Two-time defending champion Nebraska-Omaha finished the regular season as the unanimous No. 1 pick in the NCAA Division II wrestling poll that was released Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association.
        The Mavericks, who went 10-0 for their first undefeated dual season in 36 years, received all eight first-place votes to accumulate 160 points in balloting of coaches from around the country.
        Minnesota State-Mankato remained second with 150 points and Central Oklahoma stayed third with 144, while Nebraska-Kearney and Augustana (S.D.) tied for fourth.  Rounding out the top 10 is Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.), Ashland (Ohio), Shippensburg (Pa.), Mercyhurst (Pa.) and Fort Hays State (Kan.).
        UNO will host the North Regional this weekend, while the East Regional will be held in Kutztown, Pa., the West Regional in Gunnison, Colo. and the Midwest Regional in Jefferson City, Tenn.  The top-four placers at each weight from all four regionals qualify for the 2006 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, set for March 10-11 in Findlay, Ohio.
        The Mavericks have eight of their 10 wrestlers ranked, topped by three No. 1 picks -- 157 Patrick Allibone, 174 J.D. Naig and 285 Les Sigman.
