Dec. 7, 2005 NCAA-II Wrestling Rankings
EDMOND, Okla. -- Two-time defending champion Nebraska-Omaha remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the first regular season NCAA Division II wrestling poll released Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association.
The Mavericks received all eight first-place votes to accumulate 160 points in balloting of coaches from around the country and easily finished ahead of No. 2 Minnesota State-Mankato.
Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.) stayed third in the poll, while Nebraska-Kearney jumped from eighth in the preseason rankings to fourth and Central Oklahoma moved up a spot from sixth to fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 is Augustana (S.D.), Shippensburg (Pa.), Adams State (Colo.), Ashland (Ohio) and Findlay (Ohio).
UNO has eight wrestlers in the individual rankings, led by a trio of No. 1s -- 157 Patrick Allibone, 165 J.D. Naig and 285 Les Sigman.
MSU-Mankato is led by top-ranked Travis Krinke (174), while UPJ has two No. 1 individuals in 141 Thad Benton and 184 Mike Corcetti.
The 2006 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be held March 10-11 in Findlay, Ohio.
